Seisho Itokazu Sensei Seisho Itokazu Sensei is the Chief Instructor of the legendary Kodokan Dojo in Okinawa. The Kodokan Dojo was founded by Shinpo Matayoshi Sensei and until today represents worldwide the only true head for Matayoshi Kobudo because it is directed by the Matayoshi Family itself to assure the preservation of the legacy of Matayoshi Kobudo. Itokazu Sensei holds the rank of Hachi Dan (8th Dan) in Matayoshi Kobudo and Kyu Dan (9th Dan) in Kounan Ryu Karate (Uechi Ryu). As part of his commitment to spread the art of Matayoshi Kobudo Itokazu Sensei has been at the USA three times sponsored by the Matayoshi Kobudo Kodokan USA. He visited San Diego previously in 1998, 2000, 2004, and 2008. |

On Thursday, November 6, 2008, the Okinawa Governor and President of the Okinawa Dento Karatedo Shinkokai Hirokazu Nakaima officially established the executive committee for the 2009 Okinawa World Karate Kobudo Tournament. The ceremony was held at the Okinawa Prefecture Government Office and all the major karate associations' representatives were present, together with the main local companies that will support the event. The tournament and related events dates are August 14-16, 2009. The event will be held at the Okinawa Prefectural Hall of Martial Arts (Okinawa Kenritsu Budokan).
